Phone boxes due to be repurposed as Kent Free Little Libraries are reborn as Santa Post Boxes.

Two post boxes destined to become Whitstable lending libraries are temporarily becoming Santa Post boxes this Christmas. Working with local residents Cllr Val Kenny and Chris Cornell set up a Santa Post with the Horsebridge Arts and Community Centre.
For two weeks in December local children were encouraged to drop their hand written letters into the post boxes where local volunteers wrote hand written replied which were then delivered by Duke of Edinburgh volunteers.
In total over 190 children who deposited their letters to Santa received replies and a Christmas card designed by local artist Nina Harris. We had over 35 elves helping with delivery.
Our volunteers loved sharing a little bit of Christmas cheer. It was so nice to do something so positive after a difficult year.

In preparing the boxes local volunteers will be spending time working out how they can best be taken apart and reused.
